H Street, NE is in my neck of the woods so I couldn't miss out on a great street party! So, in true Zeenia/Vanessa fashion we made our way towards the sounds of local music and the smells of soul food and barbeque's.
Mixed in between the two music stages were barbeque's full of chicken, pork, and beef, as well as tons of fried food (french fries, chicken wings), collard greens, mac and cheese, and other delectable, heart-clogging (err, stopping) finger foods.
Spanning about 8 blocks along H-Street, the festival also showcased the Washington National's band along who was on hand to play some great baseball tunes for the crowd.
Besides the food, the music, and the crowds of people we had a chance to check out local art in a variety of ways: cars covered in tiles, "art from scrap," and other interesting junk; motorcycles made out of an over-sized guitar; and other interesting pieces.
The H-Street Festival is a great showcase of all that Northeast DC has to offer: great home style food, fantastic local music, and funky art.
